A Little Something Extra for Ingenuity

Nearly two dozen teachers are sharing more than $20,000 in grant money to fund innovative learning projects.

The grants are awarded by Achieve Hartford!, an independent organization of local business and community leaders dedicated to advancing the reform effort in Hartford's shools and improving student achievement.

The grant program, which awards up to $1,000 per proposal is designed to reward teachers creativity and ingenuity. The focus of this year's grant program is literacy project in grades 4 and 5.

This year's recipients are: Kathryn Adams, Global Communications Academy; Sasha Aronson, Rawson School; Beth Bashir, Naylor School; Robin Bornstein, West Middle Elementary School; Ita Brown, Wish School; Mary Chambers, Rawson School; Bonnie Clark, Batchelder Elementary School; Michael Currier, Naylor School; Kimberly Daly; Clark Elementary and Middle School; Linda Evans, Rawson School; Susan Fuchs, Clark Elementary and Middle School; Denice Garrett, America's Choice at SAND; Kristel Gray, Rawson School; Greg Geer, Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts; Roald Haaland, Clark Elementary and Middle School; Lisa Kozlowski, Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts; Lani Langlois, Martin Luther King School; John Maziarz, Milner Core Knowledge Academy; Vanessa Nunes, Naylor School; Robin Otis, Webster Micro Society Magnet School; Michelle Vandersloot, Clark Elementary and Middle School; and Judi Wimberly, Rawson School.
