Segarra Gets Support Of Hartford Legislative Delegation

Mayor Pedro Segarra has garnered the support of members of the Hartford legislative delegation. The only names missing from the press release are state Reps. Kelvin Roldan, who represents the 4th Assembly District, and Hector Robles, who represents the 6th Assembly District. See the press release below:

MAYOR SEGARRA ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF HARTFORD DELEGATION MEMBERS

Heads into July 21st Nominating Convention with Strong Support

HARTFORD, CT - (July 11, 2011) Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra announced today the support of members of the city's delegation to the Connecticut General Assembly. The members include: State Senators Eric Coleman and John Fonfara, as well as Representatives Matt Ritter, Minnie Gonzalez, Marie L. Kirkley-Bey and Douglas McCrory.

"I couldn't be more honored to have the support of these fine men and women," said Mayor Segarra. "Since I became mayor we have been working together to further the interests of the city at the State Capitol. I welcome their support and look forward to continuing our efforts."

Senator Eric Coleman (D-Hartford), who represents Hartford's 2nd Senatorial district and co-chairs the Legislature's Judiciary Committee, said "I have known Pedro Segarra for many years. I feel that his leadership style, which is characterized by inclusiveness and consensus-building, is just what Hartford needs at this point in time. I look forward to working closely with him as we both endeavor to overcome the city's challenges and move the city forward. I am pleased to endorse his candidacy for election as Mayor of Hartford."

Matt Ritter, who serves Hartford's 1st House District, said, "In Mayor Segarra we have the leader this city has needed: someone who is honest, energetic, visionary, and always putting Hartford's citizens first. I am proud to endorse him and grateful that the city has someone of his caliber leading the way."

The Hartford Democratic Party's nomination convention takes place Thursday, July 21; the Democratic primary will be held Tuesday, September 13.
